Song of the Day: “Just To Get Unified” by Mr. Sonny James

Mr. Sonny James (Philly) posted this “feel good party edit” to his soundcloud in December. It combines Gang Starr, Jurassic 5 and DJ Mitsu and it’s a free download.

Song of the Day: “I Want You (Diskobeistet Remix)” by Marvin Gaye

I can’t really find any info on Diskobeistet so either it’s a remix name (like the “Breathe Easy” in “Jazzanova’s Breathe Easy Mix”) or he’s associated with People Love Music which is a “label and club night based in Oslo, Norway dedicated to creating and cultivating soulful, universal sounds.” Either way, great remix and free download. Song of the Day: “No” by HNNY

HNNY (Stockholm) released this 12″ December 23rd. Add this (90′s R&B vocal samples) to the list of things that are overdone and normally bug me – but really work in this case. And, side note, I love that I inspired someone to buy vinyl records by playing this on my radio show. [via Scribe]

Song of the Day: “Nebulosa (Turbojazz Edit)” by Tenorio Jr.

Turbojazz (Italy) released his “Food for Cats” EP today on GAMM records out of Sweden.

Song of the Day: “Ain’t No Love Lost (suonho Raw-dub)” by Patti Jo

Suonho (Italy) posted this as a free download on the 3rd with the following description: “Patti Jo – “Ain’t No Love Lost”, written and produced by Curtis Mayfield, released in 1972 on Scepter Records as 7inch single. This is basically an instrumental rework: added some drums, re-timed, re-structured and gently re-mastered. Same tempo (96 BPM) same key (Gm) as the original.”

Song of the Day: “She Went Away (Freddie Joachim Remix)” by Eric Roberson

Mellow Orange posted this Freddie Joachim remix of “She Went Away” from Eric Roberson‘s 2001 album Esoteric… as a free download January 9th.

Song of the Day: “Ms. Fat Booty (Louis Futon Remix)” by Mos Def

Louis Futon are a young production duo out of Philadelphia. They posted this remix on January 25th. [via Lil' Dave]

Song of the Day: “UNdecided+LongAssIntro” by Brenk Sinatra

Brenk Sinatra (Vienna, Austria) posted this freebie to his soundcloud on January 10th.

Song of the Day: “Steely Rushen (For The People Mix)” by DJ Day

I’m going back through all of the tracks I played on the show this year in preparation for my best of 2013 lists and I came back across this gem. DJ Day (Palm Springs) posted this shockingly seamless blend of (the original stems of?) Steely Dan’s “Kid Charlemagne” and Patrice Rushen’s “Remind Me” back on May 8th and it’s still a free download.

Song of the Day: “Nothing Can Come Between Us (Pomo Edit)” by Sade

Pomo (Montreal) posted this Sade edit to his soundcloud (as a free download) last week 12/10.
