South African Punk Pioneers Documentary/Kickstarter

My friend Mirissa Neff (of PBS’s Sound Tracks and more) is working on a really interesting documentary about a mutli-racial South African punk band called National Wake that formed during apartheid (1979) “at a time and place where even speaking with someone of another race was illegal.” You can see her 2:00 kickstarter video below and read more and contribute here if you are so moved.

Song of the Day: “Ain’t No Love Lost (suonho Raw-dub)” by Patti Jo

Suonho (Italy) posted this as a free download on the 3rd with the following description: “Patti Jo – “Ain’t No Love Lost”, written and produced by Curtis Mayfield, released in 1972 on Scepter Records as 7inch single. This is basically an instrumental rework: added some drums, re-timed, re-structured and gently re-mastered. Same tempo (96 BPM) same key (Gm) as the original.”
