Song of the Day: “Steely Rushen (For The People Mix)” by DJ Day

I’m going back through all of the tracks I played on the show this year in preparation for my best of 2013 lists and I came back across this gem. DJ Day (Palm Springs) posted this shockingly seamless blend of (the original stems of?) Steely Dan’s “Kid Charlemagne” and Patrice Rushen’s “Remind Me” back on May 8th and it’s still a free download.

Song of the Day: “Hold The Line” by Anderson .Paak

Anderson .Paak (f.k.a. Breezy Lovejoy? Los Angeles) released his Cover Art EP (as a name-your-price release) November 27th. I’m assuming (maybe erroneously) that “Roquel Rodriguez” is Raquel Rodriguez. This is a cover of a Toto song that has a special place in my heart.

Song of the Day: “Nothing Can Come Between Us (Pomo Edit)” by Sade

Pomo (Montreal) posted this Sade edit to his soundcloud (as a free download) last week 12/10.

Song of the Day: “Disappear Without a Trace” by Pablo Ygál

Song of the Day: “In Love With Living” by Skyzoo & Antman Wonder

The 9 song EP shows Philly composer Antman Wonder recreating the original beats with live string sections, horns, etc, while lyrically its written from the perspective of Sky placing himself in the emotions that Jay displayed on the original, but from his point of view, as opposed to reinterpreting Jay’s life.

Song of the Day: “Don’t Wait” by Mapei

Mapei (Stockholm) released this single November 5th on Downtown Music.
