Archive for September, 2012

Song of the Day: “Gone” by Range Da Messenga

Range Da Messenga (Southwest Virginia) released his debut single (as a free download) in May on Hezekiah’s 3crates. He first caught my ear on ISHÉ & Hezekiah’s “Pressure.” Looking forward to hear more from him. His EP is due out in November.

Song of the Day: “Fadenfilm (Cinematic Remix)” by Summsemann

This is why I love having a radio show. People randomly send me music and sometimes it’s really good. The folks at ThinkLoud in Germany sent me their Droppin’ Mirrors compilation out of the blue back in 2010 and I’ve returned to this track periodically ever since.

Song of the Day: “Lucky Star” by Carlitta Durand

This is my favorite track from the Nostalgic Nights EP which Carlitta Durand (North Carolina) released at the very end of 2010. I’m pretty sure she has a new project in the works. Looking forward to hearing it. [via moovmnt]

Song of the Day: “Crushed Velvet” by BoomBaptist

BoomBaptist (Austin, TX) released The Lost Files Vol. 3 (2006-2007) (as a “name your price” release) September 6. I love the way this track swtiches at :23.

Song of the Day: “ Thunderbird” by Oha

Does anyone know anything about Oha a.k.a. Cedric Allen out of Queens/NYC? This song, which starts with part of “Zulu Nation Throwdown (Part II)” by Bambaataa Zulu Nation Soul Sonic Force, takes a pretty awesome left turn. It’s the only song posted to his soundcloud page and he has no other social links to explore. I’m intrigued. Free download below.

Song of the Day: “Running (Disclosure Remix)” by Jessie Ware

Jessie Ware (South London) released her debut album Devotion August 20th on Universal Island. I first heard this remix by Disclosure in Full Crate’s set on The Main Ingredient in June.

Song of the Day: “Glass Mountain Trust (B. Bravo & Teeko Re-Funk)” by Mark Ronson featuring D’Angelo

Frite Nite posted this as a free download to help promote B. Bravo & Teeko excellent The Starship Connection EP which came out last Tuesday.

I first got this when Teeko came by the show last year. It’s a been a secret weapon for DJ sets every since.

Song of the Day: “Draw (Dorian Concept Remix)” by Cid Rim

Cid Rim (Vienna, Austria) released his Cid Rim LP August 7th on LuckyMe. [via Groove Merchants Radio
